Last year Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) released Tor, an open source program for anonymous, online communication. Here’s an overview of how Tor works and if you are interested in trying it out, the latest version can be downloaded here. BayFF will be hosting an event tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 10th, at 111 Minna Street in San Francisco exploring the history of Tor, as well as discussing various ways to implement and use this revolutionary software. See the Squid List post for more info.
Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables software developers to create new communication tools with built-in privacy features. Tor provides the foundation for a range of applications that allow organizations and individuals to share information over public networks without compromising their privacy.
