The Commonwealth Club Presents Chuck Palahniuk & The San Francisco Cacophony Society at the Castro Theatre

Cacophony Book

My co-collaborator and business partner John Law, along with co-authors Carrie Galbraith and Kevin Evans, recently released an amazing new book “Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society”, published by Last Gasp. It is about the the prankster group The Cacophony Society, that along with many other things, help launch the Burning Man event in the desert and was the real-world inspiration for “Project Mayhem” in the book Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk.

On Monday, September 23rd The Commonwealth Club of California: San Francisco is hosting a special Cacophony Society event with Chuck Palahniuk in San Francisco, “Chuck Palahniuk and the SF Cacophony Society: Creating Culture from Mayhem”, at the historic Castro Theatre. The event features a discussion with Chuck Palahniuk, John Law and Carrie Galbraith, moderated by Brad Wieners, along with bartending robots from RoboGames, a blessing from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a reading by Stuart Mangrum, “Hugging Machines” by Kal Spelletich and Art Cars and Doggie Diner heads out in front of the theater. Here’s ticket info and the event on Facebook.

Here’s John Law’s detailed blog post about the event.

I’ll be traveling to San Francisco to attend this event, in fact I wouldn’t miss it. I highly recommend it anyone interested in such things as the San Francisco Cacophony Society, Burning Man, Santacon/Santarchy, Billboard Liberation Front, culture jamming, urban exploration and many other things that helped make San Francisco the unique city it is.
