The Caring Humans at the San Diego Kitten Nursery Who Provide 24-Hour Care to Newborn Feline Orphans

Cole and Marmalade‘s devoted human Chris Poole paid a visit to the San Diego Humane Society’s Kitten Nursery where the generous and compassionate staff provide around-the-clock care for the orphaned newborn kittens who have nowhere else to go. Not only is shelter provided, but the kittens are lovingly attended to, cleaned, fed and even brushed with the soft head of a toothbrush. As Poole learned kittens like these would have met a different fate had the nursery not been established in 2008.

Kitten season is the time of year when cats give birth, flooding animal shelters and rescue groups across the nation with homeless litters… San Diego Humane Society’s Kitten Nursery cares for thousands of orphaned kittens every year. These neonatal kittens require 24-hour care that is unavailable anywhere else and before their kitten nursery program was established in 2008, kittens this young would be euthanized because of a lack of resources required to care for them.
