Harmonizing Band Performs Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s ‘Ohio’ From Their Van
Southern California band Daring Greatly performed a gorgeous harmonic cover of the 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song “Ohio” while driving their van. The band said the song’s message endures. It was written after the Ohio National Guard killed four people and injured nine during a protest rally at Kent State University.
More than 56 years later, the song’s message remains as relevant and haunting as ever. Art has the power to confront, question, and make people listen. This song was necessary then, and it still is today. Here’s our tribute to a song that deserves to keep being heard.
Originally formed in Calgary, Alberta, by brothers Patrick and Liam Croome and longtime friend Brayden Tario, the band said they’ve been playing “Ohio” for almost ten years.
The shootings also helped spark the Akron band DEVO, as a 2025 documentary explores.
