‘Show Me a Hero’, A Young Mayor Tries to Implement Integration in New HBO Mini-Series by Creator of ‘The Wire’

Show Me a Hero is a brand new HBO six-part mini-series from David Simon, the creator of The Wire and is based upon a book of the same name by Lisa Belkin. The series focuses on a young and inexperienced mayor, played by Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, X-Men Apocalypse), who is trying to implement federally mandated integration in Yonkers, New York during the 1960s.

In an America generations removed from the greatest civil rights struggles of the 1960s, the young mayor (Oscar Isaac) of a mid-sized American city is faced with a federal court order that says he must build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town. His attempt to do so tears the entire city apart, paralyzes the municipal government and, ultimately, destroys the mayor and his political future.

Show Me A Hero premieres on August 16, 2015.
