Incredibly Detailed Cross-Sectioned Glass ‘Murrine’ by Loren Stump
Artist Loren Stump creates astonishingly detailed glass art by crafting long canes of glass which he then cross-sections for the final effect. The pieces are murrine, traditional glass art that originated in the Middle East more than 4,000 years ago. Stump is able to render shadows and even faces in his murrine despite the fact they are just one or two inches long in their longest dimension. His most complex works require hundreds of colored glass components.
