The Reverse Graffiti Project in San Francisco

by Scott Beale on June 13, 2008 · 7 comments

Doug Pray made a great video about Paul Curtis (aka Moose) working on an installation for his Reverse Graffiti Project where he created environmentally clean street art by removing dirt and grime from walls of San Francisco’s Broadway Tunnel. The project was a promo for Green Works plant based cleaning products.

It annoys me that something this nice turns out to be a sponsored advertisement for the cleaning product.

Very nice, I liked the other reverse graffiti video I saw a while back with the guy making skulls.

I live on the other side of that wall outside the tunnel on broadway. What an awesome project.

Green Works isn’t a “company,” it’s just a product line that Clorox makes. Last I checked, Clorox was not a corporation noted for its environmental responsibility.

You know, I don’t care much that it’s a sponsored piece. That’s basically the same as calling it “commissioned” which happens in the art world all the time. I think his work is great, and I think more people should pick up the idea and run with it.
