Mongoloid & Ivan Stang of The Church of the SubGenius

Last night we stopped by Mogoloid-A-Palooza, the big Devo and Church of the SubGenius event at 12 Galaxies, produced by Loid of Mongoloid. It was a really awesome show. I shot some video of the event (I only had my Fujifilm F50 on me, so the quality is not the best), but here’s Monogoloid performing Devo’s “Uncontrollable Urge”, the opening song of their set.

Ivan Stang

At around midnight, just before to Mongoloid’s set, Ivan Stang, co-founder of The Church of the SubGenius, took the stage to deliver one of his infamous rants (the video is around 15 minutes long). Here’s a shorter version of the video where Ivan explains The Church of the SubGenius in under a minute.

KRK Ryden

KRK Ryden had a bunch of his art on display at the front of the venue. I picked up one of his mini-drawings “Spud In Hand”. Spudboy is an ongoing theme with Devo and KRK created some of the early artwork for the band.

Praise Bob!

Thanks… but you’re about 15 years too late. Man or Astroman? ring a bell?
