408 Hot Air Balloons Lift Off Simultaneously in World Record Attempt

408 colorful hot air balloons lifted off simultaneously at the 2013 Lorraine Mondial international hot air balloon festival in France in an attempt to beat the world record for the largest take-off. The standing record of 343 balloons was set the previous Saturday, beating out the earlier record of 329 balloons set in 2009.
