‘The Landing’, A Short Sci-Fi Film About a Mysterious Crash Landing on a Midwestern Farm in 1960
“The Landing” is a short sci-fi period film by Australian filmmaker Josh Tanner that follows a man’s attempt to uncover the events of a night in the summer of 1960, when a craft crash landed on his childhood farm. Tanner discussed the stylized short in an interview on Short of the Week.
The origin of the film started from an image I had in my head of a middle-aged man unearthing a spaceship buried underneath barren farmland. This seed spurred on the concept of a UFO landing being covered up not by the usual government agent types, but instead by a simple farmer and his son.
