Startled Raccoon Briefly Stands On Top of an Unsuspecting Alligator in Ocala, Florida

While walking along the Ocklawaha River with his family, a Florida man named Richard Jones captured an incredible shot of a startled raccoon standing on top of an unsuspecting alligator at the Ocala National Forest. Jones told WFTV 9 that the raccoon was probably startled by their presence and stumbled onto the alligator thinking it was land.

I snapped a lucky picture right when the gator slipped into the water and before the raccoon jumped off and scurried away. Without the context you’d think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river. Pretty amazingDefinitely the photo of a lifetime.
