Newborn Rhinoceros Calf Learns How to Wallow in the Mud
A female Southern White Rhinoceros calf named Anna was born on April 6, 2013 at the Lion Country Safari in Florida and now, at a week old, she’s learning how to wallow in the mud by mimicking her mom, Bloom.
The baby was born to mom Bloom after 16 months of gestation. She has been named Anna, after rhino conservationist Anna Merz, who passed away on April 4th. Merz was one of the founders of The Lewa Conservancy which was started to help save and conserve the Rhinos of Kenya and has grown to help conserve many species of birds and mammals in Africa.
