Rhetty for History took a look at the twelve most popular horror films of the 1980s, giving a short synopsis of each movie.

The 80s produced some of the most iconic horror films of all time. Many of these movies led to long lasting franchises and they also paved the way for other films in the genre.

Included in his list are such classic films as Evil Dead (1987), Hellraiser (1987), Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Creepshow (1982), Day of the Dead (1985), Poltergeist (1982), Child’s Play (1988), Friday the 13th (1980), and The Shining (1980).
