Rescued Kitten Thrives on Three Legs After Flatbush Cats Vets Amputate Her Injured Limb

When the kind people at Flatbush Cats humanely trapped a tiny kitten whom they named Penny, they noticed that she couldn’t use her left front leg due to severe nerve damage. The veterinarian was concerned that Penny would injure the leg because she couldn’t feel it.

Over the following weeks, the leg grew weaker, and it became clear that it wasn’t going to recover.

They decided to remove the useless limb. Penny recovered quickly from the surgery and returned to her old, playful, vocal self, just on three legs.

Once Penny was big enough, our veterinarians performed an amputation. And judging by her running, climbing, and playing these days, she’s getting along just fine on three legs.

Penny’s surgery was covered by the Flatbush Cats rescue program, and the Brooklyn nonprofit is expanding what its Flatbush Vet clinic can offer so more pets in the community can get procedures like hers.
