Construction Crew Rescues an Unexpected Kitten From Their Komatsu Excavator
When Chase Guello and the construction crew of RiverReach Construction were checking equipment at a job site in Leavittsburg, Ohio, before starting the workday, they heard a high-pitched meow from inside their Komatsu excavator.
Chase knew he had to do what he could to rescue the tiny kitten trapped inside. Removing the skid plates at the bottom of the excavator was the best way to start, but it got stuck. When he finally got it loose, the kitten fell to the ground with it.
Well, here’s our uh, rescue mission for the day. … there’s a cat stuck in a Komatsu. So, we’re going to pull off the bottom skid plate and see if we can get him out of there cuz he fell down in there and he cannot get out, and I cannot fit down in there either. That’s pretty far down. …Well, rescue mission successful. We have retrieved the little kitten, and he definitely needs some TLC.
Since then, the cat, whose name is Komatsu, or Sue for short, was taken in by RiverReach shop mechanic Jared and his family. Komatsu North America was so impressed by the rescue that they sent Sue a tiny reflective construction vest and a hard hat with ear holes.
