Wait, is this a prank, or does the city just wrap stuff in plastic for some reason?
oh, it’s real. this city takes itself very seriously.
The Spanish fir tree’s flowers are in bloom, covering everything in a sticky yellow pollen. The wrap is meant to help with the cleanup. Luckily there’s only one area in San Francisco where the trees grow… … … and if you believe that…
So the really funny thing about this is that the city (or at least, the person staffing 311 on a Saturday) doesn’t know why they do this. I asked @SF311 on Twitter:

it’s also cuz the warped tour is happening across the street at pier 28. this wrap is along the embarcadero across from the pier.
Maybe it’s because Pride is this weekend – They are promoting safe sex.
