Myspace Has Revamped Its Site ‘Totally From Scratch’, Launching Soon

California-based “social entertainment destination” Myspace has been revamped ‘totally from scratch’ and while not available to the public yet, it is available to preview in this promotional video. Digital media company Specific Media acquired Myspace over a year ago and Justin Timberlake, one of the new owners, announced the new Myspace video today on Twitter. Myspace also recently announced a partnership with Panasonic to bring a social TV service called Myspace TV as a “new way to experience all the shows you love…” Users can sign up to get an invitation from the new Myspace when it’s ready to launch.

We’re hard at work building the new Myspace, entirely from scratch. But we’re staying true to our roots in one important way—empowering people to express themselves however they want. So whether you’re a musician, photographer, filmmaker, designer or just a dedicated fan, we’d love for you to be a part of our brand new community.

Justin Timberlake is stated as saying in a June 2011 Myspace press release:

“We’re ready to take television and entertainment to the next step by upgrading it to the social networking experience. Why text or email your friends to talk about your favorite programs after they’ve aired when you could be sharing the experience with real-time interactivity from anywhere across the globe? As the plot of your favorite drama unfolds, the joke of your favorite SNL character plays, or even the last second shot of your favorite team swishes the net, we’re giving you the opportunity to connect your friends to your moments as they’re actually occurring. This is the evolution of one of our greatest inventions, the television. And, we no longer have to crowd around the same one to experience it together.”
