The TieFi, A Clever Wi-Fi Hotspot Built Into a Necktie to Force Technology-Obsessed Kids to Be Close to Their Dad

The TieFi is a clever Wi-Fi hotspot built into a necktie to force technology-obsessed kids to be physically close to their father. The device was created by the advertising agency Grip Limited, and works by rerouting a home wireless network through the low-range hotspot built into the tie that only extends about 10 feet from the wearer.

In a product video, Grip interviewed several fathers about their perceived disconnection from their kids thanks to technology dependence. They have released instructions for building the device as well as the open source code used to operate it.
