Michael Jackson Talks About the Godliness of His Voice & His Need for Perfection in a 1980 Interview Animated for PBS

In the second season premiere of the PBS animated series Blank on Blank, the late Michael Jackson talks about the godliness of his voice and his need for perfection in a 1980 interview conducted by music journalist John Pidgeon and seemingly “translated” to Mr. Jackson through his then 13-year old sister, Janet.

My singing it’s just..I’ll just say it simple as possible: it’s just godly. Really it’s just… When I was small I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just sang and it came out sounding pretty good. I just do it and it happens. It’s… I can’t explain it or…It’s no real personal experience or anything that makes it come across. Just a feeling and God, I’ll say. Mainly God
