FarmBot Genesis, An Open Source Automated Farming Machine For Home Garden Use

The FarmBot Genesis is a truly open source CNC farming machine that allows anyone to to create a backyard garden of any size. The entire process is automated, so users can just create a design through interactive software that’s connected to the Arduino Mega 2560 and Raspberry Pi-enabled bot, which then plants, waters and cares for the garden. Founded by maker Rory Aronson who is a big believer in project documentation, the FarmBot Genesis kit is available for pre-order, but a great deal of instruction/documentation is available to build and/or customize along with a whole community and a wiki to assist when questions arise.

FarmBot Genesis is the first FarmBot to be designed, prototyped, and manufactured. Genesis is designed to be a flexible FarmBot foundation for experimentation, prototyping, and hacking. The driving factors behind the design are simplicity, manufacturability, scalability, and hackability. …Our Vision is to create an open and accessible technology aiding everyone to grow food and to grow food for everyone. Our Mission is to grow a community that produces free and open-source hardware plans, software, data, and documentation enabling everyone to build and operate a farming machine.
