Photos are starting to come in from the giant Pie Fight that took place this afternoon in San Francisco at the Powell Street Cable Car Turnaround. Steve Rhodes has a great set of photos (posted above). I especially like the photos of shaving cream covered people being interviewed by the media.

Here are more write-ups and photos of the pie fight from SFist, Mauricio Balvanera, Matt Cohen, Michael Morris, Ed Hunsinger and Ales Vlasak.

Gabriel.. did you actually attend this event? The absurd spectacle of a real pie fight is so valuable, and such a celebration of life, that I’m amazed and disgusted by your reaction. Sometimes a mess is to be embraced. That’s what a pie fight is all about. A little shaving cream on the sidewalk is a small price to pay for the happiness this brought to almost everyone present. Some people aren’t happy, though, unless they have something to complain about. With that in mind, I wish you a luxurious pie to the face in the near future. And i hope that when it comes, you’ve gained the good sense to enjoy it.
