Thursday evening hundreds of people came out to Mezzanine on a rainy San Francisco night for digg’s big Million User Celebration. I shot some photos of the event.

Early on in the event, Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose announced that digg was releasing their API and a Flash Development Kit, as well as Digg API Visualization Contest. Of course multiple people Twittered the news, including myself.

Adafruit Industries had a table at the party and were selling their new Digg button electronics kit ($1 of each sale is donated to Electronic Freedom Foundation).

Ghostmarking was on hand as well, out in back with their laser cutting machine, doing laptop and cellphone etchings.

At the party it was great to meet top digg user and fellow photographer Andrew Sorcini (aka Mr. Baby Man) who flew up from Los Angeles just for the event.

UPDATE 1: Here are some more photos from Owen Byrne, Mr. Baby Man, Brian Caldwell & Xavier.

UPDATE 2 : Mr. Baby Man has uploaded his video “A Day in the Life of a Digger” that was shown at the party.

UPDATE 3 : Here’s the other video from the party, “Digg Reality” by Christian Williams.

Wow! what an evening. I would love to get one of the Digg clickers. I’m sure eBay has a selection of them at this point.

Were the laser etching machines free? It would be handy to replace the squid sticker with an etched version.

Great photos, as always!

I tossed up a few shots I took at:

The music was just too damn loud to stick around for much more. I was hoping you’d get a shot of the Digg LED over the door though :-)

Robert, Lane is amazing! I completely value lane’s and Scott’s photos. If I’m ever put on Wikipedia, I’ll use photos that they have taken of me.

I’ve been dabbling with the Digg API and it’s pretty good.

So far I’ve built…

http://www.duggornot.com

…which allows users to check how their Digg story submissions are doing.

And…

http://www.duggornot.com/comment_reader.html

… to see how their comments are doing. I plan to integrate them both soon.

They’re still in early development but I’ve learnt a lot about the Digg API in the mean time.
