Angry Desert Rain Frog Expresses His Displeasure With an Adorable Squeaking Cry

Wildlife enthusiast and photographer Dean Boshoff captured absolutely adorable footage of a tiny defensive desert rain frog who was expressing his profound displeasure> with a long cry, with a sound similar to the one that is emitted from a squeezed squeaky-toy.

I recorded a short clip of the defensive cry of the Desert rain frog – Breviceps macrops while walking along the sand dunes in Port Nolloth, a coastal town in the Northern Cape province, it alerted me to its presence with its fearsome war cry. I knelt down and proceeded to photograph and film this unusual creature’s behaviour.

Boshoff captured additional footage of this frog, while discovering another, more amiable frog along the way.

A short photo & video compilation to give people a better understanding of what these frogs look like. Included are photographs of another specimen I found under a shrub that was oblivious to and not threatened by my presence.
