The World’s Tallest Tree Is In An Undisclosed Location in California
To be fair, the tree in the photo montage above is the World’s Second Tallest Tree at 369 feet. It was the world’s tallest known tree until the 2006 discovery of Hyperion, a 379 foot tall coast redwood somewhere in California’s Redwood National Park (as trees have a checkered history with mankind, its exact location is kept secret.) Ecologist Jim Spickler took a camera to the top of Hyperion so that we can see the view from the world’s tallest plant. Over at Krulwich Wonders, Robert Krulwich explains how the 700 to 800 year old tree was discovered and measured.
