Special Edition Leica Camera Designed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson For a Charity Auction

The Leica M for (RED)

Jony Ive and Marc Newson have designed The Leica M for (RED), a one-of-a-kind special edition Leica M camera that will be sold to benefit charity at the (RED) Auction. The camera, similar to the standard $7,000 Leica M in specs, features Apple designer Jony Ive’s characteristic rounded edges and a laser-machined anodized aluminum body. The designers tested 561 models and nearly 1,000 prototype parts in the 85 days the special edition camera took to create. The Leica M for (RED) will be auctioned off on November 23, 2013 at Sotheby’s New York, with proceeds going to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
