Dutch Master Paintings Recreated as Photographic Specimen Art by Michael Mapes

Back in January we posted about a fantastic art series in which artist Michael Mapes recreated Dutch master paintings as mixed media specimen artworks. Mapes recently completed more Dutch master specimen works, in which reproductions of the paintings are distributed amongst vials, pins, and other scientific equipment. The works will be on display at two upcoming exhibitions: “Cut-Copy-Paste” at Beers Contemporary Art in London, August 1st to September 27th, 2014, and “Revisiting the Golden Age” at Pulchri Studio in The Hague, August 9th to 31st, 2014.
