BirdAbroad, an anonymous expat blogger in China, stumbled across what appeared to be an Apple Store in Kunming. But after she and her husband toured the store, they realized the store (and two other Apple Stores in the neighborhood) were elaborate fakes. The store employees she spoke to believed they were Apple employees, and it was unclear whether the products they were selling were genuine or knock-offs. Apple has declined to comment on the counterfeit stores. There are only four genuine Apple Stores in China.
UPDATE: One of the fake Apple store clerks spoke with WSJ’s China Realtime Report.
