Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh posted a silent, black-and-white version of Raiders of the Lost Ark along with an essay on staging in film on his site Extension 765. In the essay, Soderbergh praises the film’s director Steven Spielberg and cinematographer Douglas Slocombe for the staging and says he posted the film without color or sound to let the viewer focus just on how things are staged and the thought processes that went into those choices.
Due to privacy and copyright reasons, Soderbergh’s version of the film is not embeddable here, but can be watched in full on Extension 765.
