In the mesmerizing video “Danielle,” a girl ages from childhood to old age in four minutes, yet the changes are so gradual that they are nearly imperceptible. Filmmaker Anthony Cerniello achieved the uncanny effect with a clever combination of photography and digital wizardry. The project started at his friend Danielle’s Thanksgiving celebration. Cerniello enlisted photographer Keith Sirchio to take photos of the Danielle’s extended family. Cerniello then brought in a team of digital artists—Nathan Meier, Edmund Earle, and George Cuddy—who tweaked and animated the family photos and stitched them together in what looks like a seamless time-lapse of one person.
