Behind the Scenes at the U.S. Army Center of Military History
BuzzFeed recently toured the U.S. Army Center of Military History, a facility near Washington D.C. that houses a vast collection of art, artifacts, and documents relating to U.S. military history. Among the intriguing artifacts in the Center’s high security warehouse—an archive of firearms spanning the history of the U.S., uniforms of famous military figures, and the Army’s art collection. The art collection contains works commissioned by and donated to the Army as well as art seized during wars (the collection even includes original paintings by Hitler that were seized in World War II). The Center’s warehouse is not open to the public but a museum is in the works.
