Artsy, A Pandora for Fine Art

Artsy is an art discovery website that guides users through a library of more than 20,000 artworks using an automated recommendation system similar to Pandora. The site is powered by the Art Genome Project, an ambitious endeavor to distinguish and connect artworks based on their characteristics, or “genes.” Works are categorized by artist, geographical region, content, art movement, techniques and much more. Art newbies can use the site to discovery new art, while collectors can make inquiries on works that are available for purchase. Artsy is based in New York City and was founded by Carter Cleveland. For more on the site, see this article by The New York Times.
