Oculus VR has revealed that the retail version of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is scheduled to ship in Q1 2016. Previous versions have all been prototypes of one version or another, but this is the first time the company has given a look at what they actually intend to sell. Details are sparse, but Oculus VR promises more in the coming weeks.
The Oculus Rift builds on the presence, immersion, and comfort of the Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences, as well as a highly refined industrial design, and updated ergonomics for a more natural fit.
Those interested in creating applications for the Oculus Rift are encouraged to use the Oculus Developer Center.
