Replica, An Interactive Dance Performance Projected On A Giant Screen

“Replica” is an inventive dance and video performance piece by ITP students Jeff Howard and Alex Vessels that was performed in December of 2010. Using live image processing, the students projected video of the performance onto a 120 foot screen in the IAC building in New York City.

Replica is a performance using live image processing to explore how the awareness of time affects the perception of self-image. Patterns unfold creating a dialogue between the performer and her representation, bringing the contrast of control and authenticity into question.
