‘Grossvaterland’, A Graphic Novel About the German Experience During World War II
Grossväterland (German for “fatherland”) is an upcoming graphic novel project based on eyewitness accounts of German citizens during the Second World War. The book, which is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, will come in a single edition featuring both German and English translations.
The stories are told from the perspective of the last living eyewitnesses. We don’t want to tell the history of WWII but stories from WWII. Grossväterland is going to establish an objective view of the history via the subjectivity of the storyteller — without sugarcoating or lecturing. For historical and sociopolitical validation of the project we are collaborating closely with historic experts and institutions.
