At long last the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco has good coffee. Last week I accidentally stumbled upon a brand new Philz Coffee that just opened at 201 Berry Street in the Mission Rock area. Niall Kennedy stopped by their earlier this week and shot some photos. There are also bunch of photos from various locations in the Philz Coffee pool on Flickr.

Philz Coffee

Named after owner Phil Jaber, Philz is known for their “one cup at a time” coffee brewing technique where they offer a great selection of unique coffee blends that they individually make by the cup, with the extra special touch of adding cardamom and a mint leaf. Their coffee is truly amazing.

Phil Jaber is a man who has made thousands of people very happy by inventing some of the most delicious blends of coffee on the planet.

His coffee activates all the senses. It is coffee that you have to drink slowly because it’s so phenomenal. There are layers to this coffee and secret ingredients that Phil may or may not reveal to you.

The blends are chosen by Phil and his son Jacob and mixed together. These combinations do not exist anywhere else in the world. We prepare each cup indivdually at Philz. It’s alchemy. It’s a work of art.

This new location joins the expanding Philz Coffee line-up which includes their original location in The Mission District where they have been for over 23 years, along with their new cafe in The Castro and their first franchise location in San Rafael.
