10,000 Dominoes Arranged as a Working Computer Circuit Capable of Performing Basic Addition
In 2014 mathematician and comedian Matt Parker led a team that arranged 10,000 dominoes into a working computer circuit capable of performing basic addition. The finished system takes two four-digit binary numbers and outputs their five-digit binary sum. In the video, Parker demonstrates the different functions of the circuits with smaller models.
Parker also appeared on an episode of Numperphile to discuss the mathematics behind the computer with a behind-the-scenes interview that went even more in-depth.
