WonderCon 2008

I made a quick stop by WonderCon 2008 today and while there shot a few photos.

As always, Star Wars is one of the most popular themes.

Of course the wonderful Sergio Aragonés was there, signing autographs.

Colin Turner was running the Last Gasp booth, featuring a bunch of their new books, including “Ron English: Abject Expressionism” (see my previous post) and “The Original Art of Basil Wolverton”.

I stopped by Joshua Ellingson’s both and while there ran into Attaboy and KRK Ryden. Three of my favorite artists, all in one place.

Lou Ferrigno, who played The Incredible Hulk on TV and Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies, where both in the same area. I was hoping to possibly see a little Hulk vs. Wookiee smackdown.

WonderCon 2008 runs through Sunday, so there’s still plenty of time to check it out if you are in San Francisco.

UPDATE 1: Bonnie Burton was there as well and shot some WonderCon 2008 photos.

UPDATE 2: Veronica Belmont’s coverage of WonderCon 2008 on Mahalo Daily.

Scott, will you be going back tomorrow? Can you take photos of the XFiles cast? Gillian, David, and Chris Carter will be appearing at 2pm. Would love to read a report on their new movie!

Chris, I might try to stop by again tomorrow, but I’m not really doing any kind of in-depth coverage. Just seeing friends and shooting a few photos.

Also, There are tons of comic book parties in town this weekend but the one at Isotope on Saturday looks pretty neat

Sergio!
Some friends of mine tabled near Sergio at a con once and had many “ladies man” stories. The man is apparently a real Don Juan.

Oh, you seriously make me yearn to go to a con! And WorldCons are the best.

Scott, your photos are really fantastic. I need to get a camera truly worthy of such an event. Thanks for linking to my photos. ;-)

Scott, as always, your photos put mine to shame, but I did get several shots of the costumed conventioneers:

Haha, you must have been standing right next to me when you took the 3rd photo (Star Wars characters) because I have the exact same photo but from a slightly different angle.
