Weird America’s San Francisco SantaCon 1995 Video

by Scott Beale on December 14, 2006 · 2 comments

As the world enters the 3rd weekend of Santarchy, I thought it might be a good time to take a look back at the early days. Chuck Cirino recently posted his classic San Francisco Santacon ‘95 video that he shot during The Cacophony Society’s second Cheap Suit Santa (Santacon) event where over 100 Naughty Santas invaded San Francisco in 1995. This one features the famous scene where we hung Santa Melmoth from a streetlight on Market Street.

San Francisco Santacon 1995 was my first full-blow Cacophony event and is what sucked me into its vortex. Here are a few of the photos that I shot that year. One of these days I need to scan in the rest of them.

Speaking of Santacon videos, I’ll be showing my Portland Santacon 1996 video next Tuesday, December 19th at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco at the 1996 Portland Santacon 10th Anniversary Party.

Lynch, not a word that people should toss around lightly.

I know this is suppose to be funny, but I think someone got a bit to nogged out to describe it as a lynching.
