The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo on The Gong Show

Check out this great video of Oingo Boingo (then called The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo) on The Gong Show in 1976. Danny Elfman is playing the trombone and his brother Richard is the guy with the rocket. Richard Elfman started the band in 1972, shifting things over to Danny in 1976 when he decided to focus on filmmaking.

UPDATE 1: rkt88edmo pointed out a bizarre Budweiser commercial featuring Oingo Boingo.

UPDATE 2: Will Scovill tips us off to the trailer for the 1980 film “Forbidden Zone”.

You can’t mention Oingo Boingo and Richard Eflman the director wthout mentioning the wonderful Forbidden Zone. This was made just as OB was becoming a rock band and marks one of the last times the Mystic Knights performed.
