This mesmerizing distorted video of two people dancing was created two years ago by French art studio Adrien M / Claire B. The syrupy movement of the dancers is an example of the slit-scan photographic process (another example is the Starship Enterprise warp sequence from Star Trek: The Next Generation). Slit-scan was once a costly and very involved technical endeavor—the process can now be accomplished digitally, as is the case in this video. There’s even a slit-scan movie maker app.
