Keith Loutit makes utterly stunning videos using tilt-shift techniques that normally are applied to individual photographs. His prior work has been featured here at Laughing Squid, including one of a monster truck rally that just warms the cockles of my heart. His new one of Mardi Gras is equally wonderful and is simply sweet, especially in high def.

Does anyone get the odd feeling that these things look like stop motion videos of toys? (Think Robot Chicken) Why is that? Don’t get me wrong, I realize these are photos of real people/objects. It’s just an odd sensation I get as I watch these things, and I’m wondering if there’s a reason for it. Everything just feels tiny stiff and toy-like, even though I can pause it and see tiny human details….

yah, totally looks like stop motion to me, too… are we sure this isn’t Southern Decadance, btw? I don’t recall a gay/leather pride Mardi Gras parade … this one seems to have an inordinate number of rainbow flags (also on the street poles) … just saying’s all…

OH!!! In Sydney… well that explains why the crowds are SOOOO far away from the parade itself! No grubbing for beads!
