Holiday Time at Union Square

Last night’s Bastard Christmas Party (thanks bub.blicio.us) took place at Otis which is on Maiden Lane, so when I left the event, I decided to wonder on over to Union Square, San Francisco’s main shopping district. I’m hardly ever in that part of town and of course right now it is all decorated for the holidays. I didn’t have my Canon 5D with me, so instead I decided to see what my Canon PowerShot SD800 IS could do. This is the little camera that I carry with me for snapshots, etc. Here are the photos I shot. Of course there’s no comparison to using my 5D with an L series lens, but when I just want to have a tiny pocket-sized camera with me and not lug the big guy around, it’s not too bad.

Home for the Holidays

One thing I would higly recommend checking out in Union Square is Macy’s “Home for the Holidays” pet adoption window displays which are done in conjunction with SF/SPCA. This year is a Hollywood theme with several cute film inspired dioramas. The kittens were hiding, but this little polar puppy sure could use a home.

Oh and the dog and cat puns were out of control. I shot this and this for my good friend Ted Rheingold and the Dogster/Catster crew. I always ask Ted if I could ever come in when they are having a marketing meeting and contribute to the pun fest.
