Daniel Clowes’ Book Release, VHS Video Collection & Art Exhibition

Joey Ramone talks with Jerry Bryant about working with Daniel Clowes on JBTV (1995).

In 2011, we posted about the upcoming book that chronicles the art and life of cartoonist and screenwriter Daniel Clowes titled The Art of Daniel Clowes: Modern Cartoonist. That book will be available on April 1, 2012.

For the book’s release, Clowes has launched a YouTube channel where he will “post more archaic oddities…found in an old box of VHS tapes” in his basement. The first video posted from this collection is of Joey Ramone talking about Clowes’ artwork on The Ramones’ animated music video for their cover of I Don’t Wanna Grow Up (originally by Tom Waits).

From April 14, 2012 through August 12, 2012, Oakland Museum of California is hosting Modern Cartoonist: The Art of Daniel Clowes, an art exhibition filled with “original drawings and artifacts in an inspired installation environment.”
