New York City high school student Tim Doner chats with New Yorkers in Mandarin, Russian, Pashto, and many other languages in this short documentary by THNKR. Seventeen-year-old Doner is considered a hyperpolyglot, a person fluent in six or more languages (according to his website he speaks more than 20 languages). You can hear his remarkable language skills on his Youtube page, PolyglotPal. For more on Doner, see this New York Times article.
…At the age of 13, Tim began teaching himself new languages, and now he is the youngest known person in the world to have mastered so many. By 17, when most teenagers are excited to have just put high school-level Spanish under their belts, Tim will be fluent in over a dozen and a half languages, spanning a plethora of countries worldwide. And it all will have been self-taught.
