In 2011, Canada-based pool builders Aqua-Tech Pools designed a 62-foot long swimming pool in the shape of a Les Paul Custom guitar. The project was created in the backyard of their guitar-collecting client, Garry McBurney, who wanted the pool to look like an exact replica of one of his favorite instruments. In a 2011 Winnipeg Free Press article, Aqua-Tech owner Glen McGillivray stated he used Pool Studio, 3D computer software to design the pool and says, “Essentially, we took the dimensions of the guitar and built the pool proportionally to it. To get all the details just right, we stenciled the liner so we could exactly replicate the guitar strings and tuning pegs. The three-dimensional program really helped out staff and the owners visualize the final product.”
