‘Way Out’, A Cacophonous Animated Short About the Pitfalls of Device Dependency
“Way Out” is an animated short by artist Yukai Du that explores the symbolic effects of staring at a smartphone screen all day. Created as a graduation film for Central Saint Martins College in London, the short is a swirl of colors and sound.
The exaggerated contrast between emotionless citizens and characterized phones reveals our over-dependence on virtual communication. A dramatic and extreme consequence shows a negative attitude, for which no one can escape the trend of technology that originally comes from the endless appetence of human beings.
