Vox writer Phil Edwards investigated whether so-called “astronaut ice cream” ever really flew in space. A long-standing rumor says it was part of the Apollo 7 mission, so Edwards spoke with Apollo 7 astronaut Walter Cunningham who put the rumor to rest once and for all.
The video also looks at the history of the different types of food that really did make it to space, including the one food that Cunningham stashed in his spacesuit as a backup in case the Apollo 7 crew had to abort the mission during launch.
