BrainCraft host Vanessa Hill explains the science behind the game theory problem the “Prisoner’s Dilemma” and why humans decide to cooperate or not. In the classic problem, two prisoners are interrogated separately and each is offered a deal if they blame their crime on the other. The problem was first proposed in the 1950s, but it wasn’t until decades later that it was actually tested with real prisoners.
