The Outings Project, A Global Project That Transforms Classic Portrait Art Into Street Art

Renaissance Portraits Turned Into Street Art

Figures from classical portrait paintings have begun appearing on city streets around the world thanks to a participatory art project entitled “The Outings Project”. Created by Julien de Casabianca, the project invites the public to photograph portrait paintings in art museums and post prints of the works on the streets. The backgrounds are stripped away before printing, which leaves just the figures. Separated from their paintings, the figures make for wonderfully surreal street art.
