The Local Motors Strati, The World’s First 3D-Printed Car

The Local Motors Strati is the world’s first 3D-printed car. Local Motors created the car from ABS plastic reinforced with carbon fiber, and it takes 44 hours to print. The “world’s first” title comes from the fact that the Strati is the first 3D-printed car to print the body and chassis of the vehicle together. More on the Strati is available on the Local Motors project page, and in the company’s press kit.

The 3D-printed car is going to change the way car manufacturers create vehicles. By cutting down the time and cost to build cars, Local Motors has shown the automotive world that things need to change. This line of vehicle is the catalyst, and you can be the first to own it.

Additionally, Mashable recently took the Strati for a spin.
